Tiffany, daughter of Max and Diane Agayar, was born and raised in Alakanuk Alaska, she attended Edgar Highschool and received some college education.  Tiffany grew up spending time with her grandmothers who were influential in her life, they taught Tiffany about their subsistence living and passed down generations of traditions and stories that have now been braided into Tiffany’s life. Tiffany is now passing on her grandmothers’ stories and teachings to her own children, she has a son (12) and daughter (4) who are integrated in the Alakanuk community. Tiffany introduced fishing to both her children early on, her son was three and her daughter was only a few months old. Subsistence living is a large part of Tiffany’s life; however, she recognizes that climate change is altering her homeland and making this lifestyle much harder. With less abundance of fish and shorter seasons with river ice it is significantly more challenging.
